What Is An Endoscopic Eyebrow Lift?

If your eyebrow droop is moderate-to-severe, then a brow lift (also called a forehead lift) is often the best option for surgical correction. In addition to raising the eyebrows for a more alert and youthful eye area, a brow lift also helps to smooth creases that develop across the forehead and soften frown lines that often appear high across the bridge of the nose and in between the brows.  Additionally, with Dr. Chernoff's specialized technique, he can reposition eyebrows to achieve facial harmony and an aesthetically pleasing result.

The Minimal Single Incision Endoscopic Eyebrow Lift, is a procedure developed by Dr. Chernoff, that repositions or lifts the eyebrows to improve a tired, sad, or angry appearance. His Endoscopic technique allows the procedure to be performed using one small incision hidden in the hairline. Dr. Chernoff was one of the first surgeons to perform the Endoscopic Eyebrow Lift and has spent over 25 years perfecting and improving the procedure. Most surgeons use multiple incisions to perform an Endoscopic Eyebrow Lift. Dr. Chernoff has perfected and improved the technique and uses one small central incision in the hairline and a hair follicle-sparing technique.  The incision is so small that once healed, it is barely visible. Dr. Chernoff's technique is particularly helpful for men with receding hairlines and women with thin hair who prefer no sign of the eyebrow lift incision.

Do All Surgeon's Perform A Single Incision Endoscopic Eyebrow Lifts?

First of all, not all Plastic Surgeons have been trained and are able to perform traditional Endoscopic Eyebrow lifts with multiple incisions, let alone a single incision approach performed by Dr. Chernoff. Dr. Chernoff was among the first to be trained on the traditional endoscopic technique and has spent decades improving the procedure.  Over time, Dr. Chernoff has developed and perfected the single central incision technique.  Using an endoscope, Dr. Chernoff releases the structures holding the brow in place and is able to reposition and/or elevate the entire eyebrow using one small incision one inch above and hidden the hairline. Dr. Chernoff uses an advanced suture technique that provides a nearly invisible scar and will frequently perform this advanced procedure on men and women with thin hair or on men with no hair.

Preparing for Surgery

Prior to any surgical procedure, Dr. Chernoff recommends that all our patients read our "Patient Guide for Plastic Surgery". Dr. Chernoff also performed Lower Eyelid Surgery, using an internal incision to remove the patients under eye fat pads. Finally, the patient had multiple Fractioned DOT CO2 Laser in office treatments to build collagen, elastin, and improve sun damage, and overall skin quality.

What Is The Recovery Process For A Brow Lift?

The recovery process varies from person to person, but most of Dr. Chernoff’s patients are surprised that their pain is relatively minimal. Immediately after your brow lift, your forehead will be sore and there will be some bruising and swelling for a few days. Cold compresses can help minimize swelling and reduce pain. Taking arnica prior to the procedure may help, and your preoperative nurse will explain Dr. Chernoff’s recommendations.

The first few days after eyebrow surgery, you will need to take it easy and allow your body to heal.  Most of Dr. Chernoff’s patients return to work in 4-10 days, depending on your type of work.  After the procedure, you will wear a small bandage on your forehead for several days. You will have a tiny incision that heal inconspicuously. It may be a couple weeks before you can return to strenuous activities like running or lifting heavy weights. We follow up with you continuously after your eyebrow lift and our nursing team will monitor you carefully until you are healed.

Is There A Non-Surgical Procedure For An Eyebrow Lift?

Neurotoxins like BOTOX, Daxxify, or Xeomin can be injected into specific muscles that are responsible for raising the eyebrows. Relaxing the muscle helps open up the eye area and provide a well-rested, natural result lasting 3-6 months for Botox and Xeomin; Daxxify is said to last longer, 6-12 months. These treatments work well for patients who have a mild brow droop. When the droop is moderate or severe, injecting a neurotoxin can actually make the droop worse. Neurotoxins like BOTOX Cosmetic is used to smooth and soften the horizontal forehead lines (worry lines) as well as the vertical lines between the eyebrows.
